What is Aluminium Sheet?

An Aluminium Sheet is a flat piece of metal composed of aluminium, a lightweight and versatile material recognized for its outstanding corrosion resistance, high strength weight ratio, and malleability. Aluminium Sheets are produced by rolling aluminium ingots to the appropriate thickness and size between rollers.

How are Aluminium Sheets manufactured?

• Aluminium ingots or billets are melted in a furnace at high temperatures until they become molten. The molten aluminium is then cast into big slabs or billets, which are used to produce aluminium sheets.
• The cast aluminium slabs or billets are heated to high temperatures and then run through a succession of rolling mills. During the hot rolling process, the thickness of the aluminium is gradually lowered and extended into long strips or coils. This procedure refines the grain structure of aluminium and improves its mechanical qualities.
• After hot rolling, the aluminium strips are cold rolled, passing them through rolling mills at room temperature. Cold rolling decreases the thickness of aluminium and increases its surface finish and dimensional accuracy. This process also increases the strength and hardness of the aluminium sheets.
• Following cold rolling, aluminium sheets may be annealed, which entails heating the metal to a specified temperature and gently cooling it. Annealing reduces internal tensions in aluminium and improves its ductility and formability.
• Aluminium sheets can be cleaned, coated, or anodized to improve their corrosion resistance, appearance, and surface qualities.
• Finally, shearing or slitting equipment cuts the aluminium sheets to the correct proportions. Cut sheets may go through extra finishing operations such as edge trimming, surface cleaning, or inspection to assure quality.
